Crowded club hopping, steep cover fees and major travel fare aren’t the only trademarks of a successful bachelorette party anymore.
Bach-ing it up doesn’t have to involve overpriced bottle service. It can look a lot like a weekend away in the woods, but with amenities. And wineries. And porch hot tub hangs. And lake time. And campfire smell.
Set up a bach camp at a luxury cabin in McCurtain County and check off some bachelorette weekend essentials, without the chaos. Drinks, dining, pampering, entertainment – all with the great outdoors at your disposal. Need inspiration? Just need a plan? Use our cheat sheet itinerary and get here already (and get to celebrating).
DAY 1
Cabin Check-in
Ease right into cabin life – and call dibs on those rooms. With massive cabins that can comfortably house as many as 25 or more people, we’re positive that you’ll have room for the whole bridal party. And the extended friend group. And their pets, even.
Come with your own camp provisions or designate some wine, beer and snack runners to stock the spacious kitchen. You’ll probably want that hot tub beverage at some point. Places like Adam & Eve’s General Store and Rolling Fork offer a lot of grab-and-go options for those looking for a low-maintenance weekend.
Winery Time
Pick your winery. Or wineries. There are four to choose from in McCurtain County: Fish Tales Winery & Bistro, Girls Gone Wine, Knotted Rope Winery and Vojai’s Winery. All four offer plenty of indoor seating and patio space – and are made for bach-ing it up. Girls Gone Wine even has a selfie booth, VIP room and party bus if you’re wanting to go all out.
Dinner & Entertainment
Celebrate the first day in McCurtain with a night out – for dinner and live music (dare to karaoke, too). You can get that middle-of-nowhere feel, without being in a restaurant dead zone out here. From classic diners and BBQ joints, to breweries, steakhouses and brick oven pizzerias, there are more than a few options. Even an oyster bar. Spots like Abendigo’s, Grateful Head Pizza Oven, Hochatown Saloon and Shuck Me regularly have live music on weekends.
DAY 2
Diner Breakfast
Biscuits and gravy. Buttermilk pancakes and home fries. All the bacon, all the eggs. Fuel up for some outdoor time with homestyle comfort food at Stevens Gap Restaurant, a Broken Bow favorite. You’ll be treated like family and served up some generous portions. Think of it as that staple that locals love – that diner-style food every road trip needs.
Morning Hike
Hit Friends Trail. It might be a little on-the-nose, but you are with a group of friends, after all. McCurtain County is home to Beavers Bend State Park and more than 1,300 acres of hiking trails, making it ideal for beginners and experts. Hiking not your outdoor thing? Fishing, horseback riding, ATV-ing, ziplining, biking and golfing come to mind. Just make sure someone plays photographer.
Brewery & Lunch
Craft beer exists out here, too. Mountain Fork Brewery and Beavers Bend Brewery are two go-tos on any McCurtain County getaway. Both are located in the heart of Hochatown, with several creative brews to test out (getting a flight is in your favor). And patios. Because drinking beer outside is just better. Both spots offer food, too. Snag a brick oven pizza or burger at Mountain Fork – or gourmet knife & fork hot dogs and nachos at The Wienery at Beavers Bend.
Also very important to note: growlers to-go (and six-packs) are a thing and highly recommended.
Cabin Spa Sesh
Wedding planning is a stress-free and carefree time, right? Stay in and treat yourself – some of the area’s spas offer group cabin massage sessions. And for next-level zen, log some hot tub time afterward.
Dinner by Campfire
Make the most of that fire pit – and actually being able to see the stars. Dine al fresco at the cabin. And if s’mores appear on the scene, so be it. Maybe break out a growler from earlier, too.
DAY 3
Breakfast at Camp
An adult slumber party calls for an epic last day breakfast spread. And porch coffee. Put the chef’s kitchen to use before shopping and saying farewell.
Explore Local Shops
Boutique, gift and antique shops galore. If you’re looking for something to remember the trip by, aside from a good story or two (and inevitable photo documentation), hit up some shops before you head out.
Farewells
More caffeine for the road is a must. Okie Girls Coffee & Ice Cream, Adam & Eve’s and We Fudge a Little and Coffee a Lot offer espresso drinks and teas – and several ways to get your sugar fix (and maybe even some free samples).
