We start every year with grand expectations. New dreams. A resolve to be different and commit more of ourselves. Because reaching our goals and dreams takes more than just doing what is expected, as good and as hard as that may be. Exceeding our goals and dreams is about doing what is expected and then some. It’s about taking personal responsibility for it. It’s about owning it.
Fear of failure has no place in reaching our goals. Neither does fear of success. (A different kind of fear. But fear nonetheless.)
Fear is the enemy.
Fear is of the enemy.
Fear is the opposite of faith.
Fear makes us think, “What if I don’t…“
“But what if you do?“
That’s how the great ones think.
That’s what makes them great.
They do what it takes to make themselves better… Plus a little bit more.
You’ve got a higher calling.
So go and do what it takes to make it happen for Him and His glory. Make sure your motive is right, and then go chase that lion!

Seriously – Benaiah chased a lion! Whatever happened to him?
He returned victorious from that pit. Then later, he became one of King David’s mighty men and commander of his 3rd rotational army. He then helped David’s son Solomon become king, killed Solomon’s enemies, and served as the chief of Solomon’s army.
Think and pray
Be courageous. Be obedient to what God has called and gifted you to do. Do it for His glory. And go chase that lion into that pit on a snowy day! Then watch what the Lord will do with it.
Father, give me Your vision for my life this week. Give me courage, resolve and persistence to chase what You have called me to, depending solely on You for the provision and direction. I fear not, for You are with me. Amen!
