A calm, supportive conversation is a place to start.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Start with what your child knows<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Choose a quiet moment and ask: <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cHave you heard anything about a teacher being arrested? Steady support from a parent or caregiver can make a profound difference in their healing.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Let your child speak in their own words. Avoid pressing for details, suggesting answers or repeatedly asking them to tell the story. You do not need to investigate or decide whether you have enough proof before seeking help. Do not promise to keep the information secret. Instead, explain that you may need to tell people whose job is to help keep children safe.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">If you suspect child abuse in Pennsylvania, call <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ChildLine at 1-800-932-0313<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. It is available 24 hours a day.
