Every October, hundreds of the curious and obsessed descend on Honobia in LeFlore County, just north of the McCurtain County border, for the annual Honobia Bigfoot Festival & Conference. The mythic Sasquatch is said to reside in the forests of the Kiamichis across LeFlore and McCurtain, and many of the festival’s guests stay in cabins around the Beavers Bend, including in Broken Bow and Idabel.
Though the festival takes place the first weekend of October (Friday and Saturday), there are plenty of reasons to book your cabin a few extra days leading up to the gathering. Here are three reasons to pre-game in McCurtain County.
