Our Story

Founded on what wasn’t there.

[Paragraph 1 — The founding moment. Who started Dragonfly, and what specific moment or reality made them start it. Written in close third person — personal and specific, not mission-statement language.]

[Paragraph 2 — The gap they were filling. What wasn’t there for victims in Oklahoma City before Dragonfly existed?]

[Paragraph 3 — The early days. 2016. What it took to build this.]

Today, Dragonfly is the only state-certified provider of human trafficking victim services in Oklahoma City — certified by the Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General in November 2016. We’ve served nearly 900 victim-survivors, answered more than 8,000 helpline calls, and we’re not close to done.

Who We Serve

If you’ve experienced trafficking, you belong here.

Dragonfly serves victims of human trafficking — sex trafficking and labor trafficking, all genders, all ages fifteen and up, American citizens and foreign nationals alike. We also serve the children and family members of people who come to us. The only thing that qualifies someone for our services is that they’ve experienced a form of human trafficking.

Every service we provide is completely free of charge. There’s no income requirement, no religious participation requirement, and no discrimination of any kind. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to take a next step, and we’ll take it with you.

Not sure if you qualify?

Call us. Our helpline advocates don’t screen or gatekeep — they listen. If we can help, we will. If we can’t, we’ll find someone who can.

Our Approach

The why behind how we work.

Dragonfly isn’t structured like most nonprofits. Every decision — about space, care, hours, process — was made with one question in mind: what does a victim actually need?

01

Dragonfly is not a shelter.

That’s not a limitation — it’s a decision. What we’ve built instead is a Crisis Center designed to feel like a living room: warm, accessible, and yours to use on your terms. You don’t move in. You don’t check out. You come when you need us, and we’re here.

02

Every person here is the author of their own recovery.

Our team follows your lead — not a checklist, not a program timeline, not an outcome someone else decided for you. We’re trained in trauma-focused approaches because healing from trafficking isn’t linear, and the person who’s lived it understands what they need next.

03

Our helpline is answered 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Because trafficking doesn’t follow business hours, and neither do we. Whether you’re a victim reaching out for the first time, a family member who doesn’t know what to do, or a provider trying to connect a client to services — we answer the call. Literally.

Our programs

From crisis to stability.

Three interconnected programs — each built around what victims actually need, not what’s easiest to provide.

Human Trafficking Crisis Center

Our core program. A non-residential, home-like environment where victims access specialized case management, trauma-focused therapy, medical and legal advocacy, and more — without moving in, moving on, or checking a box to qualify.

Housing Assistance Program

Stable housing isn’t a bonus — it’s a foundation. Through our scattered-site housing model, in partnership with Upward Transitions and the City of Oklahoma City, we connect victims with independent housing throughout OKC, plus deposit, rental, and utility assistance.
